SHILCE SECONDARY SCHOOL was established to serve the Educational, Spiritual, and Social needs of both the advantaged and the disadvantaged members of Kenyan society.

We have developed Shilce into a center of excellence so that those who go through it will be like Christ, our exemplar increase in wisdom and stature in favor with God and man.  We produce students with relevant and most needed skills to enable them fit in our society and contribute to all aspects of development. (Luke 2:52)

The idea of Shilce Secondary School was born after a motivational Vision conference that was facilitated by The Harvest Foundation in Jinja, Uganda in 2000 and another follow-up conference at Nairobi International School of Theology (NIST) in Nairobi, Kenya in 2001. Meshack, David, Wycliffe and Walter who attended the seminar, decided to use the principles learnt to establish Shilce from the little resources they had to ensure that the young people from the Kawangware slums and its outskirts receive this kind of teachings that would help them to use the little they have to develop their minds and their communities.  The initial amount, Kshs. 3,400($45)  that was used to pay rent for the first class was borrowed from a friend, which shows that God uses the little resources we have to bless us.

SHILCE SECONDARY SCHOOL is an institution that has come up so as to cope with the need for education for the youth from different ethnical, cultural and country backgrounds including those from the war affected countries like Burundi and Rwanda as well as the need for the candidates who miss admission to form one each year, after completion of class eight.  SHILCE SCHOOL is as a result of the combined force of Christian brethren to help the communities reach and meet the needs of the unfortunate who could become a menace if not educated.  The vision of foresighted professional brethren was conceived out of long-term cry by the community together with the administration to have a school to serve both the advantaged and the disadvantaged.

The school is conveniently situated in Dagoretti constituency in Riruta along Kabiria road, and in the immediate outskirts of Kawangware slums, which is the main catchments area for the school.  It is strategically located to allow easy access both from the surrounding and from the wider Nairobi and its environs.

The school has a strong foundation on faith, creating a warm, caring and friendly environment, which enhances self-confidence and self-discipline.  The staff is experienced and dedicated to help the students realize their full potential.  The school offers the 8-4-4 system of education.  It expects to develop and maintain high academic, moral, spiritual, and ethical standards in students so as to be citizens of high integrity in their countries of origin.

Shilce is currently under construction. The foundation of  first wing of the Shilce Secondary School is already set.  Kindly, support the building of the school by donating to the on-going school construction. The walling for the first floor of the first wing was completed on Dec. 12th 2010. We need to make the slab for the first floor of the first Wing to enable our students use these classes in January. Donate to Shilce to help us complete the first wing of the school.
